About me and my therapy practice

Finding a good match for your therapist can seem daunting, especially when you find yourself in the grip of powerful feelings and are struggling to think in a useful manner. In consulting with me, I seek to offer you the benefits of my many years' experience with a sensitive and respectful approach, whether for yourself or your teenage son or daughter.

Whilst my experience and qualifications are important, real change can only happen when the meaning of your experiences is thought about carefully and respectfully, and over time healing and real change become possible.

I am a BACP Accredited psychotherapist, working as a psychodynamic practitioner primarily.  My practice is with adults and young people from age 13 up.  I have a degree (BSc(hons) 1st class) in Psychodynamic Counselling and CBT from the respected Birkbeck, University of London, as well as extensive further training in the psychodynamic approach, supervision and young people.

Areas I help with include work and school stress, social anxiety, excessive worrying, bereavement, relationship problems, low self-esteem, trauma and life transitions such as adolescence and mid-life crisis. Or maybe your concerns feel less defined such as a sense of emptiness, a feeling of not knowing who you are or having lost your way, or low mood. Let's understand you better together, and help you to find your way forward.

Practice description

My consulting room is in Surbiton where I practice in person, or I can offer online and/or phone therapy.

My first session

During our first session we will have a chance to meet and find out more about what is troubling you and what you might like to gain from psychotherapy.  It will be an opportunity to share what has been on your mind in a confidential setting.  You will get a feel of what it may be like if we decide to work together, and you can ask any questions you have of me.  During this 50 minute session we can consider the way forward.  If the therapy is for a young person, it is often desirable that the parent(s) attend for part of this session.

If you would like a telephone conversation (about 15 minutes and no charge) to find out more please get in touch.
