About me and my therapy practice
Hello and Welcome..... thank you for taking the time to read this profile.
Counselling offers a unique, safe and confidential relationship, free of judgement, to support you in making sense of your world, achieve your goals and make changes, if that's what feels important to you.
As an experienced Person-Centred / Pluralistic therapist, I’m very aware that one approach to counselling doesn’t fit all. We are all different and seek different things from counselling.
I can support you by offering genuine care warmth and understanding and a variety of approaches including Person-centred, Transaction Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Creative ways of working together. There is the flexibility to draw on some or all of these at various times during our work together, depending on what feels comfortable for you.
You may be seeking counselling due to depression; anxiety; trauma; bereavement; loss; difficult relationships or maybe the difficulty is the relationship with yourself, feeling disconnected or disillusioned with life? With the number of messages and conditions we absorb on who to 'be' and how to 'behave' in order to fit in, it can also be difficult to feel confident or good enough.
Often, we can find ourselves mentally exhausted with fewer reserves or resilience to cope at times. Life can be pretty tough and it’s ok to seek that extra support when things simply get too overwhelming. It can happen to any of us. 1-4 people will struggle with their mental health every year.
If you are not clear about what you are seeking from counselling, that's okay too, we can make sense of it and explore it together.
I am experienced working on a long or short-term basis and I’m a caring person who is very passionate about empowering people - helping you to overcome the emotional difficulties that are weighing you down.
Often as changes start to occur, your needs from counselling may change and so it's important to understand and honour this through regular reviews.
Given the current situation with COVID 19, I am working online through zoom or by phone which means that there is the flexibility to work with you, even if you are not locally based.
I can also offer a sliding scale on fees depending on your financial situation.
Working with Children and Young People
I am specifically qualified to work with children and young people, who I see in private practice, counselling agencies, and schools.
I believe that every child matters and deserves to have the opportunity to explore, make sense of their story, and to have their voice heard, in order to help them develop and reach their full potential.

My first session
I work from my private practice close to Junction 11 of the M1 in a calm and tranquil setting and in our first session, we can explore your thoughts and feelings about counselling, how I can support you and how we might work together.
Sessions can last up to 60 minutes and are usually weekly in order to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. However, it's up to you how often you book a session and there are discounts available for block bookings.
