About me and my therapy practice
Welcome and thanks for visiting my profile. Pull up a seat, get comfortable, and lets really talk about what matters to you.
I’m Vicky and I run Bread and Roses, a compassionate and affirmative talking therapies service based in Uppermill, Oldham. I offer face to face sessions from the high street, walking therapy across Greater Manchester and remote sessions via Zoom for people based throughout the UK.
There could be a million reasons why you're here....
Maybe you’ve been trying to hold it all together and feel tired or overwhelmed?
Do you sometimes wish there was a manual for navigating relationships or conflict?
Perhaps you want to feel better about yourself but don’t know where to start.
It could be that ways of coping that worked well in the past are starting to cause some difficulties or are having unexpected consequences.
I offer compassionate, affirmative, support and may be the right fit if you’re looking for a safe and warm space with zero judgement.
I will combine evidence-based approaches to help you relate to yourself differently, gently let go of limiting beliefs, understand others a little bit more, and explore your next steps, at your own pace.
I believe your therapy should be as unique as you, and everyone is welcome. I particularly focus on providing informed support for LGBTQIA+ clients, adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families ( sometimes known as A.C.A./A.C.O.A.) and anyone who feels they struggle to 'fit in'.
Practice description
Bread and Roses is an affirmative practice and I am committed to working in an informed and sensitive way with clients from a range of backgrounds.
I could be the right therapist for you if:
You’re looking for a safe and warm space, free of judgement.
You value an affirmative approach – you are welcome here regardless of your gender, background, sexuality, age, size, culture, or relationship status.
You want to be empowered to work towards your goals, at a pace that feels right for you.
You’re looking to work with a ‘real’ person - I promise to be authentic and "human" with you.
You value a flexible approach – As an Integrative practitioner, I believe there is no one right way to help and your therapy should be as unique as you are.
You feel like you fall outside of the ‘norm’ but don’t want to waste time having to educate me about diversity and its challenges or feel worried about being judged.
I offer both short term therapy focusing on a single issue or concern, and longer term support for a more holistic approach.
My first session
I know myself how important it is to find the right "fit" when looking for a counsellor or therapist, and how much courage it can take to begin looking for support.
To help I offer a 30 minute free consultation via Zoom or phone, to answer any questions you may have and explore what working together may look like. This is a no-obligation session and I welcome enquiries and any questions you may have.
Once we have decided to work together, the first session is an opportunity for us to establish how this might look, with any goals, and preferences you may have in mind. As part of this session I will ask some questions about what is happening for you at the moment and what is causing difficulties, as well as us agreeing a contract. I am an Integrative Counsellor so I will listen to what you are hoping to achieve and work with you to suggest and identify any approaches which I believe would be most helpful.
There will be plenty of time to ask any questions you may have. We will agree on the frequency of sessions and how we will check in as we work, so that you can feel safe, confident, and free to begin the journey of self discovery.
If you would like to explore this further with me, please do feel you can get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
Warmly, Vicky
