About me and my therapy practice

I am a trauma-informed integrative therapist who works confidentially with the needs of clients to tailor a therapeutic approach that suits their goals and supports their progress. You may feel anxious about exploring counselling and are unsure about what it might entail. I am happy to discuss over the phone what you might want to achieve and how I might best be able to support you.

I am qualified to work with adults, children/young people and groups on a number of different issues and have 11 post qualifying years experience helping clients to address experiences, behaviours, thoughts and feelings that may interfere with their sense of self or quality of life.

My core perspective is person-centred but I draw strongly from psychodynamic and CBT models of counselling. This means I provide clients with a chance to explore their difficulties in a safe and reflective way in therapy whilst working towards understanding better how the past may inform their present. This supports them to learn how to adjust their physical and emotional responses to any disturbing or unhelpful intrusive thoughts and feelings and develop insights into how they might successfully experience growth and resilience.

I have supported clients to address issues including mental health challenges, traumatic childhood/life events, eating disorders, family/relationship conflict, bereavement/loss, experiences of abuse, work conflict, body and self esteem issues and stress.

Please feel free to contact me to arrange a confidential phone call so we can discuss what your needs might be and how we might work together therapeutically to address any issues you have.

About me and my therapy practice

Please refer to my therapist profile if you would like to see how I work as a therapist.

I am integrative supervisor and have been providing supervision support to voluntary and private therapists in a one to one and group work capacity for over 17 years.

Since my therapy and supervisory approach is integrative I am able to work effectively with the varied counselling models my supervisees may bring. My core approach is person-centred so I focus on the relationship between supervisor and counsellor and value and support the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client.

Supervision is a space where the counsellor can explore not only their working practice and how they might best support the needs of the client but also where the supervisee can explore and develop their own personal and professional development in the light of their practice, their interactions and their experiences in therapy and beyond.

As a supervisor I work systemically to support counsellors with  transference/countertransference and insightful enquiry so they can develop skilled and intuitive evidence-based practice which provides effective interventions for their therapy clients and  their working relationships.
