About me and my therapy practice

Highly Experienced, warm and caring Psychotherapist offering Counselling, Emotion Focused, Counselling For Depression, EMDR and Mindfulness. Trauma-informed 20 years NHS experience and 11 years Private practice. Supervision

Online and face to face Counselling and Psychotherapy : EMDR, Person Centred, Mindfulness, Bodywork/Focusing

I have 20 years experience as an NHS Counsellor and have been working in Private Practice with individuals and couples for 11 years. I am passionate about the work and have a great deal of success and experience of working with clients and young people in helping to process unresolved issues to reach a greater wellbeing and understanding of their pain.

Using EMDR more often as an effective method of processing trauma as more people choose this approach and recognise the efficacy provided either face to face or online.

We often go through life experiencing difficulties or trauma and do not have the chance, for many different reasons, to process the thoughts and feelings which can get stuck in the body. I work with the body energy and mind as a whole to engage with what is under the surface and at the clients pace.

If the trauma is great then dissociation can also be present so we need to gently begin to reconnect with the body and mind.

I have helped people move beyond their childhood trauma to a more whole and less fragmented self.

Often people have become isolated and feel lonely due to painful past experiences and counselling can be a first step in reconnecting with yourself and others.

I have worked and helped facilitate change with people with long and enduring mental illness.

By safely and at your own pace, being able to explore your internal feelings and thoughts you can gain a greater sense of well being and balance.

I have an Interest in Nonduality and spirituality and how this can also aid the psychotherapeutic process

Practice description

Private Practice

I have been working privately for 11 years. Having worked for the NHS for many years in busy clinics I wanted to offer privacy and comfort to clients which can be achieved in private practice. Appointments can be made more timely and at a time to suit you and your busy lifestyle. This includes some out of hours appointments.

I have been able to work more flexibly using creative therapies and EMDR in working collaboratively with clients to discover what may be under the surface and best help them work through their issues.

I hold indemnity insurance and have regular ongoing supervision as required by my BACP accreditation and membership and work to their Ethical Framework.

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy fulfilling the criteria needed for this status as a counsellor and maintain my registration as Accredited Counsellor with them each year

My private practice is a quiet, confidential, warm and inviting space with  and with ample parking available.
