About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Carina. After spending three decades in the UK, my journey has woven together my diverse roots and experiences to shape me into a compassionate and dedicated integrative therapist.

I offer a welcoming and understanding space where we can work together at a pace that suits you best. While I value the therapeutic potential of creative arts, I understand that it may not be for everyone. That's why I tailor my approach to fit your individual needs, utilizing modalities like Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, Psychodynamic therapy, creative arts, and more.

My aim is to create a safe and non-judgmental environment as a counsellor, allowing you to explore your thoughts and emotions at your own speed. By integrating various therapy techniques and creative arts, I strive to help you deepen your self-awareness and navigate life's challenges holistically.

I'm here to support you through difficulties such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and domestic violence. Together, we can delve into creative expression and alternative methods to uncover new perspectives and invite positive changes into your life. Leveraging my own experiences, I recognise the transformative influence of art and am committed to guiding you through your struggles.

I firmly believe in the healing power of creativity for emotional processing. Whether you're familiar with artistic expression or not, we can use it as a tool for self-exploration and healing. My dedication is to assist you in rediscovering your inner strength and authentic self, steering you towards a brighter and hopeful future.

Practice description

Creative art counsellor and life coaching

Through creativity, clients can gain insights into their emotions, develop emotional resilience, not only a way to express oneself but also a means to explore and reconstruct personal narratives.

Building a vision for your future through life coaching can be transformative in helping you set goals and work towards them. While counseling focuses on healing past wounds, life coaching is more about moving forward and creating the future you desire.

Parental mental health

It's possible to care for your children while dealing with mental health challenges. Mental health issues vary for each person and can be influenced by various factors. Despite stigma, finding the right support system is crucial in effectively managing your mental health and caring for your children. Remember, your well-being matters, and seeking assistance not only helps you but also benefits your children.

Domestic violence and abuse (DVA) or Intimate partner violence (IPV)

Experiencing domestic abuse impacts your mental health, emotions, physical well-being, relationships, finances, and overall sense of safety. Seeking help might seem daunting. It's crucial to understand that healing is a gradual process, and even after leaving an abusive situation, emotional wounds can persist. Common struggles post-abuse include fear of dating, self-doubt, and trust issues.

Supporting survivors of domestic violence involves addressing trauma, flashbacks, and potential post-traumatic stress disorder. I'm here to provide a safe, understanding space for you to navigate these challenges and move towards healing.

The pain of parting ways with a loved one is deeply personal and can feel overwhelming. While society suggests you should quickly move on or find closure, those expectations can sometimes complicate the grieving process.

Losing a job, a friendship, or even losing a sense of self through life's hardships or traumatic events can elicit similar feelings of loss.

My first session

It's crucial to reach out to someone who can empathize with your experiences and provide the support you need.

I'm here to support you in rediscovering who you are and guide you through the healing process.

My therapeutic approach focuses on deep listening and creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can express yourself and feel truly understood. I believe in establishing trust as the foundation for our therapeutic relationship, allowing us to process challenging emotions and experiences together.

I promote a collaborative and tailored approach, starting with a complimentary 15-minute introductory call to discuss your needs openly and determine if we're the right fit for this journey. Following that, we'll proceed with a 30-minute assessment session where we'll fill out an on-boarding questionnaire via an online call.

Whether you're dealing with immediate challenges or looking to address deeper issues, I offer both time-limited and open-ended therapy options. During our assessment, we'll explore the level of support that aligns best with your needs. If we decide to work together, we can schedule weekly or bi-weekly 50-minute sessions to support your growth and healing.
