About me and my therapy practice

Experienced counsellor and supervisor based in Staines-upon-Thames, TW18, Surrey, I work flexibly, face to face, online and over the telephone with adults, directly or indirectly affected by the stress anxiety and uncertainty of long term health conditions and major life events.

During these unpredictable times I am offering an additional number of sessions via phone or online via VSee

Have you ever been in the situation where you simply don’t know where to turn?

Have you felt confused by the choices available to you or disliked all of them?

Have you not understood how you arrived in this place?

Moments of muddle - we all have them.

Whether it is significant change unexpected, planned or unplanned, on the horizon or out of the blue, sharing how you feel and clarifying your thoughts is a really healthy option. Improve your confidence, sleep better, feel brighter.

I am ...

*Someone who will not offer an opinion or tell you what to do.

*Someone who will support you to find your own way forward.

*Someone who will respect your choice.

With a lifetime of experience managing the maze of health care systems and the impact it has on ourselves and our relationships with others, I can relate to these moments of muddle, I have become a useful woman to know.

I work from a person-centered philosophy based on the belief that within each of us we hold the potential to live our lives to our maximum capacity. I believe it is healthy to admit that sometimes we all need a little help.

Practice description

I am based in an easily accessible, friendly business centre with a welcoming reception service during office hours.

I have a well appointed room dedicated to our therapeutic objectives providing the comfort and focus for you to achieve your goals.

Free parking for the duration of your appointment on a 1st come 1st serve basis. On arrival you will need to visit reception to log your details.

My first session

During our initial meeting I will do my best to put you at ease as you prepare to share your worries. I can still recall how that feels.

I will gather some information from you, I find this settles any nerves as I will ask questions you know the answers to. E.g. date of birth, current health and if you have had any previous counselling.

I will talk through the boundaries of confidentiality and my terms and conditions. I will ask for your signature to confirm your agreement to and understanding of our contract to work together.

I will listen closely to what brings you and how you would like things to be.

We will discuss our next meeting or, if for some reason we don’t “click”and find we are not well suited to work together I will suggest an onward referral and may be able to connect you with someone in my professional network. E.g. a conflict of interest.

I have a well appointed room dedicated to our therapeutic objectives providing the comfort and focus for you to achieve your goals. I have a direct dial landline available to those wishing to work by telephone.

My first session

The relationship I have with my supervisor is fundamental to my practice. I believe supervision is a foundation to good self care. A place to reflect and learn. A place to be held in safety, to be challenged and grow. A place where muddles are unravelled, clarity evolves, professional development opportunities and ethical dilemmas discussed. A special place of connecting, learning with smiles, tears, laughter of great trust and respect. A place where thoughtful, focused conversation takes place.

This is the kind of supervision that has enabled me to grow, to learn from a safe space and what I offer you.

During our initial meeting I will do my best to put you at ease as you prepare to share more of your hopes for supervision.

I will gather some basic information from you, which may include your training course, if you are on one, your current growth edge or  development plans and general health data.

I will talk through with you the boundaries of our work together and my terms and conditions. I will ask for your signature to confirm your agreement to and understanding of our contract to work together.

Subject to agreement we will discuss our meeting schedule or, if for some reason we don’t “click”and find we are not well suited to work together we may discuss other options. E.g. a conflict of interest.
