I offer a person-centred approach which means I will work to understand your experiences from your perspective, and accept you as you are so you can make sense of your difficulties without feeling judged. I will tailor our sessions to suit you, so I may draw upon useful resources and other approaches to work in an eclectic way to suit your needs.
Counselling is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives or just simply explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe non judgemental and confidential environment.
Working together, we can make positive changes needed for you to move forward. These changes could be through you becoming more self-aware or by learning useful coping strategies that you feel comfortable with.
My first session
Our first session together will begin with us looking at the counselling agreement.
It is important that we set out the terms under which we will be working together before the counselling begins, to avoid misunderstanding and to make our work together more productive.
I will also ask you some questions to gain an understanding of what has brought you to counselling and how it can help you.
I will give you an opportunity to ask me any questions you may have about our work together and to talk about what has brought you to counselling.
