I have a very nice room at the Fred Bulmer centre in Hereford. My main day for working is Wednesday but I can also offer early evening appointments.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with children from around 8/9 years old upwards and adults.

I currently work in a high school as a school counsellor and for the CLD in Hereford where I see  a similar age range.

In my private practice I usually work with adults but also young people as well.

I have experience counselling at a SARC centre dealing with sexual assault and abuse in Gloucester.

Practice description

I am an integrative type of counsellor where I do not particularly use any one kind of therapy but whatever I feel is appropriate. Broadly this is is a humanistic approach. I feel it is very important for counselling to provide a place where you can be heard and listened to and my goal is to facilitate and empower you to be able to deal with your problems in a better way. I have had extensive CBT training and I feel that strategies can provide a way of coping but it is more important to uncover what lies behind your issues and help you to understand why they affect you in the way that they do.

Understanding = knowledge = power...   i.e. helping you to feel more in control and able to deal with the circumstances of your life.

My first session

The first session together will be exploratory and some information gathering for both of us. The most important element is for you to feel that I am the right person for you as your counsellor and that you feel comfortable with me.

i do not usually offer any kind of reduced rate for the first session but am always happy to have a conversation by telephone beforehand.

I would urge you to bear in mind that it might take a few sessions before you start to feel any benefit but of course, this is up to you...
