About me and my therapy practice

I'm a fully trained Integrative counsellor, which means I draw on several approaches and select from them to best suit your issue and character. I am always keen to learn more about how counselling can work . Beyond my core qualifications , other areas that inform my approach include studies on: how we are conscious of our own existence; how far we feel separated from or connected to others; what we take from and give to our environments; how we have evolved.

I am also a qualified EMDR practitioner. EMDR is recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence as a means of processing distressing events from the past which are impacting on our experiences in the present. I am particularly interested in working with Attachment Informed EMDR, which invites us to work with formative developmental experiences. EMDR sessions are charged at £60/hr.

Outside of private practice, I have worked with adolescents for over 20 years, and greatly cherish the challenge, energy and creativity of young people. A key part of my past work has been to help care-leavers and young homeless people transition to successful independent living, and I continue to enjoy working with adolescents in my current practice.

My early years as a counsellor were spent within the hospice movement, working with bereaved clients and clients with life-changing illness.

Practice description

I'm a Senior Accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and abide by their ethical code, including a firm faith that successful therapy lies in trusting to people's autonomy. This means I work in a non-directive way, offering a reflective space for clients to explore their own, unique experiences of life.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP Senior Accredited therapist and Level 7 Person-centred supervisor. I draw on Hawkins & Shohet's 7 Eyed model and Page & Wosket's Cyclical model. My style of supervision is embedded in a relational approach which respects the expertise and individuality of the supervisee and supports them to deepen their congruence with their clients. I value working with both counsellors and therapists, as well as other members of the helping professions, such as medical practitioners, teachers, and social workers.

As a therapist I have experience of both long term and time-limited sessions, and have worked with a wide range of life stages. I am trauma-informed and qualified in therapeutic approaches with children, young people and adults. As I work 1-1 with my own clients, I don't offer supervision for couples work.

Sessions are available in 45mins, 60mins or 90mins and charged pro rata at your hourly rate or £60/hr minimum.

Practice description

I work in-person from a comfortable garden office on the outskirts of Worcester, with parking and wheelchair access. Online sessions are also available.

I offer a free 30 minute initial meeting as I understand that it can be helpful to meet with several potential supervisors to get a sense of what feels right for you.
