Practice description
I describe myself as a relational supervisor that works collaboratively with supervisee's. I do not consider myself 'an expert', just because i hold a qualification. I may have more experience due to the time i have spent training and working in industry but far from an expert.
I feel a supervision relationship is similar to that of counsellor client relationship, you need to feel 'you click' with the person sitting opposite and sometimes it doesn't work and that's ok.
I am not in the business of 'shaming' supervisee's for 'getting it wrong'. I see my job as helping the supervisee explore and consider the motivation for interventions used in their therapy with their clients. I always consider safe and ethical practice as paramount and will challenge as and when i feel necessary.
