About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Jill.
I am a warm and conscientious Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist working both indoors and outdoors.
I gained Accreditation in 2012 and Senior Accreditation in 2016. All practicing BACP members must be Registered. Gaining Accreditation demonstrates that you have achieved high standards of knowledge, experience and development.
I am aligned to column C in the Scope of Practice and Education (SCoPEd) framework.
I bring 17 years experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist to my private practice. During that time, I have worked in a variety of settings and organisations, including hospice palliative care, bereavement services, NHS occupational health, mental health charities and at a GP practice.
My therapeutic approach is Integrative. I have a Diploma in Counselling (2010) and a Master of Science Degree in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (2013) both from the University of Salford.
I have completed training in other therapy modalities including Outdoor Therapy, Coaching, Mindfulness, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Single-Session Therapy (SST). I have done extensive continuous professional development and training to work with anxiety disorders, domestic abuse, grief and loss, long-term physical health conditions, menopause, sleep issues, and suicidal feelings.
Prior to my private practice, I was manager of a BACP Accredited Counselling Service.
I have always worked in the 'helping professions' and additionally have more than 20 years experience as a Registered ICU Nurse.
Practice description
My therapy room is in the garden and is calming and comfortable, with natural light and windows. I offer a full 60 minute session. (counselling sessions are usually 50 minutes).
We will decide together what feels right for you and what will be most helpful for you. I work in a holistic and integrated way to suit your needs and your preferences.
We may look at what life is like for you now, explore your past experiences, or focus on your hopes for the future, whatever feels right for you.
We will work at your pace whilst making sure you feel safe, whether it be dipping your toe in the water initially, or taking a deeper dive further along.
If you wish to, it may help your therapy to do in-between session tasks and I can suggest 'homework', such as reading, relaxation techniques, and dietary changes.
We will review our work together regularly to ensure you feel you are getting what you want from counselling.
My first session
It is important that you feel I am the right therapist for you. Our therapeutic rapport is essential, and so I offer a free 20 minute no obligation introductory session.
I will ask some questions to get a picture of what’s happening for you. I will answer any questions you may have.
I will give a general outline of what our therapy may look like and explain fully about privacy and confidentiality.
The first session is an assessment session. We will agree on how we will work together and complete a counselling agreement. I will gather further information, including a risk assessment. I will ask you to complete outcome measures - or questionnaires. This allows us to track your progress.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Jill.
I am currently providing single-session clinical supervision. I also provide consultations. Sessions are face-to-face for individual counsellors and psychotherapists who are registered, accredited, or senior accredited with the BACP.
I offer
- Single-session supervision- a one-time meeting to address a specific issue, similar to single-session therapy (SST). Expanding your network allows you to tap into different areas of expertise or specialist knowledge. One off consultations can enhance your clinical practice.
- Consultations- to support counsellors with job applications, preparing for interviews and with Accreditation within the SCoPEd framework aligning with columns (A, B, or C).
About me
I am a BACP senior accredited counsellor aligned to column C in the SCoPEd framework.
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision (2018) from the University of Derby (Level 7).
