About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP Senior Accredited integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who combines a robust theoretical training with warmth, kindness & insight. I work with both individuals & couples/relationships of all sexualities.

I value the importance of being clear, honest & human as a therapist. I don't believe that therapy should feel intimidating or mysterious. I'm always happy to explain things if you feel confused & I encourage clients to be open about what they need from me.

I see therapy as a collaborative process - you invite me to help you (as an individual or couple/relationship) to make sense of things. Through careful listening, genuine empathy & creative thinking, there is potential for us to come up with new insights together. Therapy is not about an expert offering generic solutions. It's about working together to see yourselves more clearly.

Therapy is about entering into a safe relationship with a non-judgemental person where you can be honest & vulnerable about who you really are & explore the aspects of your life that feel as if they're blocking you from reaching your full potential. It's you that sets the pace & it's you that chooses what you're ready to share & explore.

I am trained integratively which means that I have expertise in more than one counselling theory, which I then integrate to provide a flexible & tailored approach. Being competent in several different approaches allows me to work with the most diverse range of people & problems. No two people that come to see me for help will ever be alike, so it's important to be able to think openly & flexibly about the best way to work with someone.

I believe in therapy as a way of getting to the heart of what drives a person or a couple/relationship to do and feel the things that they do, & to unlock new & healthier ways of living. The applications of it are endless & the potential for positive change is enormous.

Practice description

I charge £85 for individual sessions, and £105 for couples/relationships.

The assessment session is charged at the same rate as a regular session.

Concession rates are currently all taken.

All sessions are online.

My first session

An assessment session is an opportunity for both therapist and client to assess whether or not both parties may be a good fit for therapy. For you, it’s your opportunity to assess me, how it feels to been in the room with me (or online with me), and whether I seem to you like someone you would like to proceed with. You can also ask any questions you may have about how therapy works and what happens next.

In the assessment session I will find out from you what you need from the therapy, and assess whether your needs meet my skillset and current capacity for the work. In order to assess this, it’s helpful for me to know a little about you and your background, as much as you are willing to share at this stage.

I tend to make notes in an assessment session, and sometimes more than one assessment is needed for us to make a decision as to how to proceed.

Neither party is obliged to continue working together after this assessment. If either are unsure, we can agree a date by which a decision will be made. If we both agree that the work should proceed, I will issue a contract for the practicalities. We are both subject to the terms of this contract once both parties have signed and I will provide a copy for each of us. If you have any questions or need any clarity on the above before the assessment, please do let me know.

Assessment sessions are charged at the same rate as an assessment session.
