About me and my therapy practice

You’re probably experiencing some difficulties at the moment, either as a couple or as an individual, and looking for a space to explore what is going on for you, understand why you feel as you do, and perhaps put in place some strategies for making a positive change. You may be experiencing the emotional stress of infertility, or have experienced the loss of a baby, and are looking for a place to talk through your thoughts and feelings. 1 in 4 of us will experience some mental health problems, so you are not alone in looking for support.

I work with adults of all ages across a range of presenting difficulties, including mental health concerns such as Anxiety and Depression, to relationship problems and fertility issues. I am also trained in loss and bereavement counselling.

I have a Diploma in Relationship Counselling from Relationship Scotland, and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have had additional training in Infertility Counselling, and am a member of the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA). I have had a certificate in loss and bereavement counselling, and have had further training with Sands Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity. I have also had training in working with people with Multiple Sclerosis via the MS-UK organisation.

Practice description

I offer short or long term therapy for couples and individuals, and work in an integrative* way, providing a warm, genuine, confidential and non-judgemental safe space for you to talk about what is going on for you.

Our sessions may be weekly or fortnightly as agreed, at the same time and day agreed.

I will carry out regular reviews with you as part of the work, to check in that we are making progress.

A typical number of sessions is 12.

What do I ask from you?

  1. I ask that you attend agreed appointments, or let me know if you are unable to.
  2. I ask that you are open and honest in the therapy space.
  3. I ask that you tell me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the process.
  4. I ask that you pay promptly for the service that you are receiving.

*By integrative I mean that I may utilise a number of different methods during my sessions with clients.

My first session

Research tells us that 30% of therapeutic change is down to the relationship between client and counsellor, so it is important that you work with someone with whom you feel comfortable. As such, if you would like an introductory 15 minute chat, please do get in touch and we can discuss what you are looking for from counselling.

After the initial chat, we can arrange your first session, where we will go through a simple assessment to allow me to focus the work on what's best for you.
