About me and my therapy practice
Hello.
My name is Vicki and I am fully qualified counsellor and MBACP.
I offer a gentle, non-judgemental space for you to reflect upon and work through your concerns.
I am trained as a person-centred therapist, which means that I understand that you are the expert in your world and by exploring that world together you will discover the solutions that suit you best.
Being person-centred means that you, as the client, are the centre of the sessions. If there is a way in which you would like to work, that you feel would work for you, you can bring that. It is an opportunity to promote your autonomy.
I have worked with clients experiencing ptsd, anxiety and depression and many trauma related difficulties. I also have experience in working with people with ASD and I am flexible in my approach - taking the needs of my clients as a whole beings into account. I work to fit with you.
I also offer therapeutic interventions for children, specifically drawing and talking and sandtray.
I have a safe, private and confidential space in Hythe, but can also offer online and telephone sessions if more convenient for you.
I have almost completed my AAT training and in the coming months I will also be offering animal assisted therapy. Working with pigs, goats, ponies or smaller animals such as guinea pigs can help break down barriers to accessing therapy and it’s benefits.
I can offer walking/outdoor sessions if you prefer to not be inside and in difficult circumstances I can offer home visits in the Shepway area.
My first session
If you are considering therapy, our first session is a free 30 minute assessment.
We will go through your history together - such as any history of mental health conditions, medications you may be taking, emergency contacts etc. This is to ensure we are working safely.
We will then have the opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy and what you hope for yourself moving through the therapy.
After the initial session, if you wish to proceed, we will agree upon a day of the week, a time and the manner in which you would like us to work together - face to face in Hythe, telephone, walking, online or in your own home if needed.
