About me and my therapy practice

I describe myself as a relational integrative therapist. The emphasis is on establishing a therapeutic alliance which offers you a safe place to explore exactly where you need help. Building this trust is fundamental to the success of our work and my approach is wholly confidential and without judgement. I am a firm believer in current patterns of behaviour stemming from past experiences and will therefore be looking at where the beliefs you have about yourself and your relationships started. This can be painful and we progress carefully to keep within your comfort zone. There is also an element of existential work to my practice. This allows us to explore what it is like for you to fit in to this world without any assumptions, expectation or protocol.

I am beside you as we unravel your issues and the theoretical expertise I have will enable me to help you progress to a life better lived. I have an MA in Psychotherapy from Regents University and continually add to my skill base.  I also have experience of working in a setting with people who have complex mental health needs. Being integrative means I use a blend of theories that fit the individual and crucially we work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

The mind and body are intrinsically linked and within the therapy it is important to recognise physical symptoms that present themselves in our sessions. These will be explored together.

The repertoire of issues that I have helped with is wide-ranging. I have worked with many difficulties but often it is simply focusing on what is causing general low mood and anxiety. Grief is something I have particular experience of dealing with and this can be a sense of loss that may not be a bereavement.

Practice description

I offer 50 minute sessions which take place weekly at the same time,  either face-to-face or over the telephone/zoom.

My first session

I would always advise speaking to more than one therapist on the outset. This may feel time consuming in your moment of need but it will help in making the correct decision and lead to longer term gains. Finding someone who you feel safe to share your feelings with is the most important first step.

I offer a free 20 minute initial call or zoom meeting which gives us both a chance to sense if we could work well together. We will talk about the issues you wish to bring to therapy and I can offer a brief assessment of how I feel we could progress and the framework within which we would begin. You will then have time to digest our conversation and gain clarity before any decision making.

Please do get in touch if you wish to arrange an introductory chat.
