About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Sophie. I am here to support you throughout your journey of self-discovery and growth. Many of us experience challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, difficulties in relationships, loneliness, low self-esteem, or grief, that can feel overwhelming. I am here to help you navigate these feelings. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, I offer a space where you’ll be heard, respected, and supported so that even at the beginning of your therapy journey, you can feel confident that this is a place where your needs and experiences matter.
I offer humanistic, integrative therapy with a person-centred approach at its heart, tailored to you as an individual. Together, we may also explore techniques from CBT, Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic therapy, Attachment Theory and Gestalt, helping you understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, all within a supportive, compassionate and caring space.
Practice description
I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where your story is welcomed, and your journey matters, a space where you can speak openly and be truly heard. Together, we can gently explore what’s going on for you, making sense of your current experiences while also reflecting on past relationships and experiences that may be shaping how you feel today.
At your own pace, we can begin to untangle feelings that are overwhelming, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, build resilience, and find ways forward that feel right for you. I gently encourage you to step outside your comfort zone, explore unhelpful patterns, and try new ways of thinking and being. Together we commit to the therapeutic process, with me providing consistent guidance and support, and you engaging with the work to bring about meaningful change.
I work with adults of all ages and backgrounds, welcoming people from every culture, identity, and life experience. I bring awareness of factors such as culture, social inequality, neglect, and discrimination into my practice, and strive to create a space where everyone feels seen, respected, and understood.
My sessions are currently held online, offering a private and supportive space where you will be met with warmth, empathy, and genuine care. Even at a distance, it is possible to build a meaningful connection and a strong therapeutic relationship.
My first session
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll gently explore what has brought you to therapy and any areas you might like to focus on, as well as how you’d like us to work together moving forward. It’s also a moment for you to check in and see if this feels like the right fit for you.
I’ll take time to understand your needs and what you hope to gain from therapy, and you’re welcome to ask any questions along the way.
We’ll also go through a simple agreement together, which outlines how I work and what you can expect from me, as well as your role in the process. I offer both short- and long-term therapy, and we can think together about what might suit you best.
