About me and my therapy practice

I am a Counselling psychologist HCPC registered. As a Counselling psychologist I offer evidence-based, clinically researched therapy for a range of emotional difficulties. I draw from a wide range of psychological theories and models, tailoring the therapeutic approach to clients’ needs and preferences.

The aim of therapy is to work collaboratively to explore and revisit life experience from different perspectives, facilitating awareness of potential unhelpful patterns that might interfere with one’s progression and /or adjustments.

In my experience and understanding, events and situations could often shake us, move us or open possibilities to new perspectives in our life. Hence, it becomes important in therapy to find a safe space and support when we feel stuck or unsure on how to navigate through the challenges of life.

The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.

My first session

At the initial session, if we agree to work together, we will establish your goal and the cadence of your therapy sessions (usually weekly). The length will be decided on the basis of your needs. However, we will review progress and goals regularly (e.g. every six sessions).

I offer a 15 min initial telephone consultation.

About me and my therapy practice

Since 2006 I studied, had training and practiced counselling psychology, following a full path of studies from A level in Psychology, Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Master’s degree in Health Psychology and Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

During these years I also trained and practiced in different settings from Charities to NHS’s primary and secondary care mental health services, using different theoretical frameworks and techniques including relational psychodynamic, humanistic and CBT.

I have my private practice and I keep up to date with CPD (continuing professional development courses and conferences).

I experienced and understood that life events and situations could either shake us and/or present opportunities in our life. For this reason, it’s important to be able to find a safe space and support when we feel stuck or unsure on how to navigate through life challenges.

The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.

About me and my therapy practice

Clinical supervision is required for all professionals and trainees working in the counselling field. As a counsellor psychologist in private practice, I have recently qualified as a supervisor too, and I am registered in the BPS RAPPS directory.

I view supervision as a calm and safe place for reflection and authentic exploration of professional counselling work.

It's a space where we can confidentially talk about professional dilemmas, latest research and any specific issues that clients might present. As well as uncover professional or personal blind spots when relating to particular clients/issues, and/or discuss new techniques.

Supervision can also serve to encourage and support novice counsellors or trainees to develop their professional skills.
