About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Marie and I'm an Integrative Counsellor working with people of all ages. My work is primarily Person-Centred with a focus on existential issues and loss, and I also incorporate CBT, creative tools, psychodynamic thinking and mindfulness into my way of working. As well as grief, I have experience of working with low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, identity, illness, gender/sexuality, neuro-diversity, and relationship issues.

We can have sessions in-person at a central Ely location, online (Teams), or on the phone. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss starting counselling sessions with me.

No charge for the introductory call (20-30 mins).

Practice description

My sessions are client-led, and I strive to create a safe, empathetic and non-judgemental environment in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings in such a way that you feel more empowered. I will work alongside you in a warm and engaging way, with respect for who you are as an individual. My aim is to never be distant or prescriptive, so that you can benefit the most from our time together.

I have a background in education, having worked with children, young people and adults in Asia and Europe as well as the UK. Over the years, I have worked with many charities such as Blue Smile and Cruse Bereavement Support. I currently work with Lifecraft, supporting families across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough that have been bereaved by suicide, with CEAACC (Cambridgeshire Expressive Arts & Counselling Centre), and with CRCC (Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre).

My experience of working with a variety of organisations and clients allows me to keep an open mind and an open heart. We are all forced to confront uncertainties and challenges in life, many of which are arduous and painful. Together, we can explore the ways in which you respond to these difficulties, to build a greater sense of self-awareness shaped by a genuine search for meaning.

I have a Diploma in Counselling and am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics.

My additional training includes:

Diploma in Trauma Counselling

Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma

Diploma in Domestic Abuse & Violence Awareness
