About me and my therapy practice

Feeling depressed, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, disconnected, lost or helpless then you have come to the right place.

My name is Kate and I’m a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor  based in Exeter, my practice is called Transform Counselling and Psychotherapy, please take the time to visit my website. I work with Adults, Couples and Young People from age 11 upwards and I can offer face to face sessions in my easily accessible, comfy, well equipped and private therapy room based at The Matford Business Centre in Marsh Barton. My therapy room is easily accessible from A30, A38 and M5 and there is free on road parking for 2 hours, also it is easily accessible by public transport, Bus and Train. I also offer online counselling to individuals who live locally, across the UK and indeed further afield.

I am a single parent of a young man with ADHD and Autism and understand the challenges associated with neurodiversity first hand, not just for the individual concerned but also for their partners, family and friends. For the last 10 years I have worked with vulnerable adults with mental health issues, learning difficulties and with neurodiversity challenges and I have seen the outcome and consequences of individuals not being able to access help when needed which prompted my decision to train as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am also active in my community and do voluntary work with a Youth Club in Exeter and am currently their Safeguarding lead.

Outside of work I’m a huge animal lover and enjoy walking my two dogs by the River Exe and generally being in nature, living in Exeter enables me to do this and we often visit the beach, woods and Dartmoor which are all nearby. My other passion is travelling and I’ve been lucky enough to travel to over 35 countries and love to experience different cultures.

Practice description

I treat every client as the unique individual they are and I embrace diversity and inclusion and no matter your background or issues I welcome enquiries from all individuals.

Relational depth is at the core of everything I do. We will develop this so you feel respected, accepted, comfortable, safe and secure to share knowing that I will always hold you and have your best interests at the heart of everything we do. You will not be judged and we will build trust which will allow you to explore your difficulties in a confidential and supportive setting. Together we will work in a solution focused and collaborative way enabling you to achieve your therapy and life goals. I work in an interactive and proactive way using a variety of approaches and interventions which will benefit you the most and develop your reflective skills and self-awareness, thus allowing you choice and the ability to transform into the person you want to be. I believe everyone has the ability to heal, change and move forward in a positive way, and see my role as a facilitator to enable you to do this. I don’t have a magic wand and therapy isn’t easy, you will be gently challenged but together we will work towards a brighter and happier future. I have many interventions I can use or tools on my toolbelt if you like to enable this and together we decide how we will work and integrate these to achieve the desired outcome. The therapy will be specifically tailored to suit you, paying attention to the mind and body, the conscious and the unconscious.

My first session

It’s really important that you click with your therapist and that you find the best fit for you. With this in mind please feel free to contact me for an informal discussion to see if we connect. I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation so we can discuss your issues, your therapy goals and how we might work together, this can be done face 2 face, over the phone or by a video call.

I look forward to speaking to you soon but please be aware that you may need to be patient if I am with clients, however I will definitely make contact with you at my earliest opportunity.
