About me and my therapy practice

Hello! It's so nice to meet you. My name is Rebecca and I'm a fully qualified and BACP registered counsellor. I have experience in many areas of mental health, such as anxiety, panic, depression, phobias, intimacy and relationship issues, self-esteem and self-worth, lack of purpose, feeling stuck, and many others.

My approach

I draw from both person-centered and gestalt theories, using a range of techniques and interventions that are tailored to your unique needs and preferences. I enjoy working in a range of ways with clients – from your standard talking therapy to more creative approaches such as sandtray, parts work, using art materials etc.

Through our collaborative work together, we'll raise awareness of any beliefs or patterns that may be impacting your life, gain a deeper understanding of the experiences that have shaped you in your past, and connect with who you are now. By doing this, we can develop new ways of thinking and being that align with your values and goals, and we can build your emotional resources to support you beyond the therapy.

Our relationship

I believe that the therapeutic relationship should be a space where clients can be themselves without fear of judgment, and it’s important for me to do all I can to make you feel comfortable. Nothing is off limits in our chats, and I'm an open person who’s happy to talk in-depth about anything you wish.

Silence plays a crucial role in our therapy sessions as it allows you time to process your thoughts and for me to listen. However, I understand that for many people, prolonged periods of silence can cause anxiety. That's why I won't rely on extended silences as some Freudian approaches do, and I'll talk, engage and offer questions when appropriate. I'll be an active presence in the room, walking alongside you and providing support as a fellow human being.

Practice description

My counselling space

Alongside offering online sessions via Zoom. I see clients face-to-face in my garden room in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. I understand that the unknown can be scary when it comes to going somewhere new, so for anyone who's feeling anxious about any parking situations or finding my house, I am able to send over a video walk through once a session is booked in to put your mind at ease.

My first session

I offer a free thirty minute Zoom initial meeting so we can get to know each other a bit better and to work out if what I am offering is a good fit for you and what you are looking for in therapy.
