About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, non-judgmental and down-to-earth space for people from all walks of life.
I’m an LGBTQ+ ally, have lived experience and understanding of neurodiversity, and welcome all conversations, including identity, bereavement, relationships, sexuality, or any part of your life you’d like to explore, supporting you to cope, or make changes.
Please feel free to contact me for a free consultation to see how we might work together.
Therapeutic Experience
As well as private practice, I’m a counsellor and counselling service co-ordinator at the Simeon Centre in Bolton, providing counselling on a range of issues, including anxiety, post-natal depression, menopause, childhood trauma and domestic abuse. I also have over 30 years’ experience in education, SEN, mediation, addiction and criminal justice services.

Qualifications
Current: Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relational Therapy (COSRT)
Advanced Therapeutic Counselling Diploma (BACP)
Additional training in:
Trauma, Dissociation & Somatisation
Working with Shame
Adverse Childhood Experiences
Domestic Violence & Abuse
Substance Misuse and Mental Health
My Approach
I meet you where you are, offering a space that is supportive, gently challenging, and open to lightness and humour, exploring feelings at your pace. Therapy can help you slow down, understand what's happening, and reconnect with what matters, responding to yourself with greater clarity and care.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute assessment so we can see if we’re a good fit. It’s a chance for you to ask questions and get a feel for how I work.
After that, we can arrange in-person sessions in Chorlton, South Manchester or meet online via Zoom.
Whether this is your first time in therapy or you're returning, I’d be glad to hear from you.
I aim to respond within 24 hours—feel free to get in touch via the BACP messaging system or by email LisaHowarthCounselling@hotmail.com
