About me and my therapy practice
I help individuals increase their awareness of themselves and others through the healing dynamic that therapy offers.
I am Katie, an existential psychotherapist with a background in psychology. I want to help individuals to live with more confidence and peace.
I offer weekly sessions lasting 50 minutes. In these sessions we will discuss what your goals are for therapy should you have any, and these can reviewed at any time.
Good therapy can change your life. Investing in your well-being is a wonderful way to take responsibility in your life and positively impact those close to you.
Even if you have been through terrible things, there is the possibility of your life improving. A lot of our limitations for how we live can be changed through a change in perception, reflection and understanding.
If you are interested in working together please reach out, to arrange an initial session.
Practice description
Some housekeeping on what working with me is like:
Beginning therapy: I offer a short call to discuss what you are coming to therapy for and how I might help.
During therapy: I like to work relationally, so our sessions are give and take. Therapy is ultimately a conversation between two people where we discuss your concerns and how and why they may manifest in your life. Therapy works best when we can be open and honest with each other, this requires trust and so it’s likely that our relationship will deepen as our work develops. I encourage feedback and reflection during our work as this creates a healing dynamic that promotes change.
Endings in therapy: I think talking about endings is helpful. So I encourage discussions of what an ending might look like for us whenever you are interested or ready to do so. In my experience it feels better when there is a planned ending, however, sometimes circumstances don’t allow for this.
My first session
First sessions’ can vary quite a bit, depending on the needs of the person coming to see me.
Generally, it’s a getting to know each other session. Since we are meeting for the first time, it’s okay to take things slow. Of course some clients are ready to jump straight into things and sometimes that’s necessary.
Come as you are and we'll start there.
