About me and my therapy practice

Seeking counselling can be daunting, especially when looking for help at a particularly tough time. You may be feeling stuck, lost, isolated and alone. Maybe you find yourself having repetitive negative thoughts circling in your head.

Are you standing at a crossroads, overwhelmed and unsure of which way to go?

‘The best way out is always through.’

— Robert Frost

I am a Humanistic Integrative Therapist which means I work with a variety of different theories and techniques.

I offer a confidential space and a listening ear so you can share your difficulties and explore your feelings safely in the knowledge that you will be treated with respect and kindness and that you will be heard without judgment.

By working through your concerns, issues, and challenges, therapy can, in time, help you find the ability and resilience to face life head-on, striving towards a happier future.

We can work with whatever you bring to therapy - you decide whatever it is you would like to explore.

You may not even know exactly what is bothering you or causing your current distress, but taking time to gently delve into the challenges at hand can bring relief and a sense of clarity.

I work with issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement and other forms of loss, guilt, shame, childhood trauma, life-limiting illness, and personal relationships. I can also help support you with your day-to-day challenges such as helping family and friends who may be suffering from their own physical and mental health issues.

Practice description

I offer both long-term and short-term sessions.

I work face-to-face from my peaceful therapy room in the Chalke Valley. I also offer Zoom and telephone sessions.

After a few face-to-face sessions, we can talk about Walk and Talk Therapy.

Walk and Talk Therapy has many benefits and can be a useful way to connect to the bigger picture and gain a different sense of perspective.

During a Walk and Talk Therapy session, we walk side by side, discussing your issues. Physical activity can help you to relax and feel more comfortable, making it easier to open up and share your thoughts and feelings.

I know it can be difficult to choose a therapist. You need to feel that I am a good fit for you so I offer prospective clients a free 15-minute call.

If you would like to schedule a call or an online meeting to find out more, please feel free to get in touch via email.

My first session

I offer prospective clients a confidential free 15-minute telephone/Zoom consultation to see if/how I can be of help.. Depending on our availability, we can then arrange an initial 50-minute session.

The first session allows you to freely express your concerns and struggles and describe, if you can, what you would like to achieve by coming to therapy.

As you chat about your expectations and desired outcomes, I can also answer any questions you may have about the counselling process.

In this session, we will also get a general feel for how we may fit together as a team, and you can decide whether or not you like my approach.

Before our first meeting, I will send you a copy of my Client Agreement which we can discuss further during our first session.

I truly understand that this initial step into counselling is often very challenging.
