About me and my therapy practice

Helder Franco

I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic counsellour.

My experience includes working with a diverse range of and clients in London, including refugees, asylum seekers, LGBTQIA+ clients, and individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, ethnicities and beliefs .

I believe in creating a shared space in therapy, and building foundations for the building of trust, fostering a private, judgment free environment. I aim to be a partner in exploring the unconscious mind, navigating whatever issues come to light. These can include the complexities of interpersonal relationships, bereavement, addiction, or even depression and anxiety.

I have previously partnered and offered my services to various organisations and charities over the years. My professional background also includes several years of experience in the field of Human Resources, specialising in employee relations matters working with individuals and organisations through mediation and conflict resolution practices, on an international scale.

I work using the Psychodynamic framework. For more details on how I work, refer to the therapy section on the website.

Practice description

How I work

My practice typically consists of 50 minute weekly sessions, held remotely.

In my work, I strive to give space and work with core principles of Psychodynamic thought, which paves the way to safe exploration as the therapist works through them. These include working the the past and exploring unconscious thoughts to reveal hidden emotions or feelings.

My style of working is to provide a safe, consistent space for you to explore your inner world and thoughts. The therapeutic relationship is central to this process, as I believe it is a powerful tool for lasting change. I maintain a clear framework, which includes not self-disclosing, to ensure our focus remains on you and your journey.

Within this contained space, I am an active and present listening ear, ready to sit with you through the full range of emotions that may arise. When necessary, I will also gently and mindfully challenge you to help you gain new insights and move forward with the work.

The work is a collaboration, and my role is to support and guide you towards a deeper understanding of yourself.
