About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, I’m Ona – Thank you for being here.

I’m an integrative counsellor with extensive experience supporting clients through a wide range of challenges, including mental health and wellbeing, trauma, neurodiversity, chronic illness and disability, bereavement, domestic abuse, and relationship difficulties.

As a Black, neurodiverse female counsellor, I offer an inclusive, affirming space where your unique experiences and identity are honoured. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or deeper emotional wounds, you don't have to do it alone.

I understand that finding the right counsellor can feel overwhelming — especially when you want someone who truly sees you, someone you can trust to support you without judgment. Therapy with me provides a safe, confidential, and compassionate space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.

Sometimes, painful or confusing experiences can leave you feeling stuck. You might carry feelings of shame, self-criticism, or uncertainty about where to turn next. Through our work together, you’ll find support to build resilience, develop greater self-awareness, and move toward self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self-forgiveness — allowing you to live more authentically.

With a professional background in the public sector and advocacy, I have deep insight into the barriers and stigma that can exist around seeking therapy, particularly in marginalised and diverse communities. I am passionate about making counselling accessible, respectful, and culturally sensitive for all who need it.

You can expect a supportive, ethical, and collaborative space where you feel truly heard, understood, and empowered to work towards meaningful change.

My first session

When we first meet, our session will be a gentle space for you to start sharing your story. I’ll ask some questions to help me understand more about you — your background, your experiences, and what’s bringing you to therapy right now. You don’t need to have all the answers or even know exactly what you want to talk about — sometimes the work begins simply by being heard. Together, we’ll start making sense of where you are and where you would like to be.

We’ll also look at how I can best support you, think about what you would like from our sessions, and agree on an initial plan that suits your needs. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we’ll review things together as we go to make sure it continues to feel helpful for you. I’ll explain how we’ll work together, including setting boundaries and expectations that create a safe, respectful, and empowering space for you to grow. You’re welcome to ask any questions you might have — it’s important that you feel comfortable, informed, and at ease as we begin this journey together.
