About me and my therapy practice

Do you feel swamped, stretched thin, or stuck on the treadmill of other people’s demands?

You may feel full of resentment yet still find yourself saying “yes” when you desperately want to say no. You may feel exhausted, avoid important tasks, or snap at loved ones and feel guilty afterwards. Perhaps trying to meet other people’s expectations all the time has left you feeling unsure of who you are anymore.

Feeling overwhelmed can feel like being lost in a tangled forest. Together, we can make sense of your thoughts, understand the patterns holding you back, and find a clearer path forward.

You can learn to:

· Hear and trust your inner voice

· Say “no” when it matters

· Let go of guilt and reclaim control of your life

Practice description

My name is Katie and I am a BACP registered counsellor offering walk and talk therapy in the beautiful North Dorset countryside, and online therapy sessions. I can also adapt sessions depending on sensory needs, offer fortnightly appointments, or shorter sessions if needed.

For the last three years, I’ve supported clients struggling with challenges such as new motherhood, menopause, loneliness, burnout, anxiety, low mood, and low self-esteem, as well as issues around emotional eating and poor body image. I can help you rebuild a kinder relationship with food and your body. I also have lived experience of autism and ADHD, including raising a neurodivergent blended family.

Please note I only work with clients over the age of 18.

Training:

I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and hold a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapy, as well as Levels 2 and 3 certificates and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

Additional CPD:

Autism & ADHD

• Autistic women & life transitions

• Executive functioning & “life admin” difficulties

• Emotional regulation in neurodivergent adults

• Neurodivergent parenting

• Autistic suicidal ideation/self-harm

Disordered eating:

• Bulimia

• Anorexia

• Binge Eating Disorder

•ARFID

•Body image

• The intersection between neurodivergence and disordered eating

These are some of the areas which I am especially equipped to support with, but I am not limited to these, and overall I will work with you as a whole person, whatever you choose to share and will meet you with warmth and compassion.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation by phone or online. It’s a chance to talk through what you're hoping for from counselling, ask any questions and see whether working with me feels like a good step.

There’s no pressure or commitment.

After this, sessions cost £55 and last 1 hour. In our first full session together I use a loosely structured approach to understand what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. We may talk about key life experiences, current challenges, therapeutic goals, and overall well-being. The session is a space for us to begin understanding how we can work together in a way that feels meaningful and beneficial to you.
