2. What will the new process be for accreditation?

To apply for individual accreditation during the transition period via our temporary mechanism, you’ll need to meet all of the existing eligibility criteria which covers training, supervised practice and supervision requirements for individual accreditation, which are not changing. You’ll also need to submit evidence of your reflective practice.

Following the transition period there will be new permanent schemes in place with different routes and we’ll inform members of these in due course. 

3. If my accreditation application is successful before or during the transition period, which SCoPEd column will I be in?

If your application for individual accreditation is successful, you will become a BACP accredited member. This membership category is aligned to SCoPEd column B. This applies to both applicants who applied via the closed accreditation scheme and those who apply during the transition period.

4. Can I still join a BACP accredited course or an approved qualification?

Yes, you can still join a BACP accredited course or an approved qualification.

We're working with all our accredited courses and approved qualification awarding bodies to support them in mapping their training programmes to SCoPEd. This process won't impact individual applications for membership or accreditation.

5. Will the criteria for applying for individual accreditation be different during the transition period?

To apply for individual accreditation during the transition period via our temporary mechanism, you’ll need to meet all of the existing eligibility criteria which covers training, supervised practice and supervision requirements for individual accreditation, which are not changing. 6. How long will it take to process my application once it reopens in early 2024?

We envisage the average time to process applications will be around four to five months. If this increases as a result of a high volume of applications, we’ll make contact with applicants to confirm.

7. I’ve submitted my application, and it's been deferred, will I still be able to resubmit it?

Yes, if you have submitted your application, before the accreditation application process closed on Tuesday 31 October 2023, you'll still have six months from the point of deferral to resubmit your deferred application. The accreditation application process being closed won't affect this. 

8. I’ve submitted my application, and I've been unsuccessful can I still appeal?

Yes, if you applied before 12 noon on Tuesday 31 October 2023 you can appeal any decision within two months of being notified that your application was unsuccessful. 

9. What happens to my individual accreditation application, if I didn't submit it before Tuesday 31 October 2023?

If you didn't submit your application before the closure date, you can save and print your application from your member dashboard. If you wish to do this, please do so by Sunday 31 December 2023. After this date part completed applications will be removed and deleted from member dashboards and our systems.
