Our registered member to accredited member route 4: NHS core training pathway is for registered members who have successfully completed the NHS core training pathway. The first set of graduates from this course qualified in 2025.

If you’re successful in your application you’ll be able to use the designatory letters ‘Registered Member MBACP (Accred)’ and promote yourself as aligned to column B of the SCoPEd framework, alongside the other benefits of accreditation.   

You'll be required to demonstrate client hours, supervision and reflective practice. 

Eligibility criteria overview

To apply you’ll need to: 

  • be a BACP registered member
  • be in current practice as a counsellor or psychotherapist
  • have completed the PCPB jointly accredited NHS core training pathway
  • have an ongoing current contract for counselling or psychotherapy supervision for a minimum of 1.5 hours per month
  • have been supervised for at least 1.5 hours per month since you first started working with clients on your course

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you'll need to complete the application form. Please make sure you’re ready to submit the following information with your application: 

  • a copy of your NHS core training pathway award certificate
  • details of your practice and supervision
  • reflective practice criteria
  • supervisor’s statement

Costs 

The cost to apply for accreditation using registered to accredited route 4: NHS core training pathway is £35.

Commitments 

All BACP members need to read and agree to abide by our Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and our Professional Conduct Procedure on an annual basis. As an accredited member or senior accredited member, you'll also need to agree to the terms and conditions of the BACP Register every year.
