GROUP THERAPY

I am starting a Lancashire-based therapy group. This will be facilitated by myself and I am currently exploring suitable premises that are Covid-safe. I anticipate this being within a 5-10 mile radius of FY2. The group will consist of a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 10. We will meet weekly for two hours and the day/times have not been confirmed yet and are currently open to discussion.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced, qualified and UKCP & BACP Accredited Existential/Gestalt Psychotherapist.

I work with individuals and groups.

I am an experienced and qualified Clinical Supervisor.

I also train Gestalt Psychotherapists on a Post Grad. UKCP Accredited course.

Practice description

GROUP THERAPY

I am starting a Lancashire-based therapy group. This will be facilitated by myself and will most likely be in the FY2 area.  The group will consist of a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 10. We will meet weekly for two hours and the day/times have not been confirmed yet and are currently open to discussion. This two hour session will cost £30 per person.

The group will be what is termed a ‘process group’ from a Gestalt/Existential perspective. Focus will be paid to your sense of ‘self’ and your relationships with others. This group does not have any specific leaning towards: depression, anxiety, OCD, addictive process, sexuality, gender, or any other particular ‘issues’; all these processes (and more) are welcome and each person will bring their own unique experience to the group to work on what they wish to work on. The main body of my training and experience is in Existential & Gestalt Psychotherapy and therefore there will be a particular focus on your own life-process and from a relational perspective, how you and the group are together. What it is not, is a CBT behavioural change group, it is also not like an AA meeting where each member starts by saying: ‘My name is **** and I’m an *****’ (not that there is anything wrong in this). We will work at a pace that works for you and all you will need to bring is your ‘self’ and (if possible but not essential) a spirit of curiosity.

I am back working Face-to-Face in individual therapy and this is in bright, airy space in FY2 9HN. Please see my website for further details: www.thomfairclough.co.uk

About me and my therapy practice

My experience has led me to work for a Primary Care Trust, Social Services Children's Services and Vulnerable Adults Services. My core experience has come from running and developing my own private practice but I have also worked with young people (10-19 years old) within an organisation for people who have experienced sexual violence/sexual trauma. I have also worked as a therapist for two years for a local Primary Care Trust in the Muscular-Skeletal (Fibromyalgia) Department of a busy clinic.

My MSc. thesis was in the area of psychotherapeutic treatment of clients who have experienced sexual violence/abuse & trauma, however I have a wealth of experience of working with most life issues, particularly of an existential nature. My Bachelor's Degree (Hons) dissertation was based in Ethics which is a subject although ‘dry’ to some, I find exciting and interesting!I was trained for Clinical Supervision in Hawkins & Shohet's 7 Stage Process model which is a versatile model enabling me to work with supervisees from most modalities. In parallel with my therapeutic work, I have decided not to Clinically Supervise pure CBT practitioners.

I enjoy this aspect of my work very much and enjoy sharing knowledge and experience whilst providing a safe 'holding' environment where you can explore your own process whilst developing, nurturing and maintaining your own ethical practice.

The first session will last up to half an hour and there is no charge for this. This is a chance to get to know each other a little and see if we can work together.

Clinical Supervision fees are £60 per hour (not per session).
