Practice description
I work relationally, offering a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and understand underlying patterns in relationships. This can help you to identify changes that could be made, and support you to accept and move on from certain situations or emotional states. I will work with you towards greater self-understanding, self-acceptance and the freedom to choose the way you want to live your life.
I offer regular weekly sessions on an open-ended basis or for an agreed period. We focus on the here and now (what’s happening from moment to moment), in collaboration, at your pace, and where your interest lies.
Coming to therapy can be the first step towards change and growth. It can also feel risky and provoke anxiety. I hope to reassure you, whether exploring this for the first time, or whether you have seen a therapist in the past, that it can be a supportive and nourishing experience. Please see my website if you would like a bit more information about how I work.
My first session
The initial assessment session will be a bit different to other sessions, allowing us to meet and get to know each other, work through any questions you may have and also discuss your expectations. During the session, I will also ask you about what has brought you to therapy and some other questions to help me identify the most appropriate way for us to work together. Hopefully, by the end of the session, you will have a good sense of if counselling is for you and if you would like to proceed.
