About me and my therapy practice
You might have been experiencing uncertainty and anxiety, or low self-esteem. Your life experience, or how you relate to yourself and others, may be troubling you. There could be patterns in your behaviour which you feel unable to change- history repeating itself. Possibly the ways that you have learned to see yourself and others are unhelpful, and you are want to create better relationships with yourself and others.
Perhaps you are looking for another way, to give yourself time and space to explore and understand yourself better, and how to respond in situations. You might be at a crossroads or transition in your life or have conflicted feelings.
Many young people are dealing with physical and emotional difficulties. You might have different demands from peers and parents, uncertainties about who you are and how you find your way in the future. You might feel frustrated, not fitting in, and want to feel better, like yourself again.
Are you feeling trapped in work, in your workplace relationship or with your family? Do you feel unable to express yourself in all areas of your life? Perhaps you lack the confidence to speak up or feel very self critical at times?
I believe that we all have the potential to enhance our lives and develop our potential, through understanding. Counselling offers the opportunity to change.
My theoretical understanding is drawn from attachment, humanistic and relational perspectives which I use in relation to your experience. I recognise the impact of traumatic experience from the past. I might explore with you how your patterns and past relationships may have shaped your experience in the present, or focus on the here and now. I recognise the important role of cultural, spiritual experience and beliefs . I value the individual’s search for meaning.
