About me and my therapy practice

Hello and a warm welcome to my profile. I know how difficult it can be to admit to yourself that you may need some additional support through counselling. This is not a sign of weakness - it is positive that you have taken this initial step. You are taking the time to prioritise yourself and your mental wellbeing.

I graduated in 2020 and have over 3 years experience of working with clients. My training is in the Integrative approach which means I draw on theory from a variety of approaches, meaning I can adapt and be flexible to you and your specific needs in our sessions. Prior to this I spent 9 years working in the prison service, 5 of which were spent delivering CBT based therapy in a group setting.

Most of my sessions are online via video conferencing although some face to face may be possible depending on location. Online therapy has become increasingly popular over the last couple of years and many people find it convenient due to the flexibility it can offer you. I understand that for some people the idea of doing counselling online may feel uncomfortable or daunting. Please feel free to get in touch with me and we can discuss any reservations you may have about this.

I am a registered member of the BACP and working towards accreditation. I work according to their ethical framework.

Practice description

Life can sometimes feel difficult or overwhelming at the best of times, and the past couple of years in particular have amplified a lot of difficulties people were already dealing with. When we feel overwhelmed, anxious and isolated it can be difficult to know where to turn. Counselling offers a safe space where you will be heard without judgement and your thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely. You can talk about anything you want in counselling and I have experience of working with clients on a vast number of issues.

Counselling is not about me telling you what to do, giving you answers or solving your problems. In our sessions we will work together to explore what it is you are coming to counselling for, your emotions, thoughts and experiences. In doing so you may find you better understand them and therefore yourself. Once this happens you can then begin to address these feelings.

My first session

Once you get in touch with me I will contact you for a brief chat about what it is you are coming to counselling for and what you hope to get from our sessions. This is also so you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you. There is no charge for this session.
