About me and my therapy practice
About me as a Professional therapist and my Practice
I have a considerable number of years experience in working psychotherapeutically with a range of client issues and have also worked for many years as a psychotherapeutic trainer and supervisor.
I work as an independent therapist, as well as with organisations, particularly EAP (Employee Assistance Programmes). I offer you a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship (within the bounds of BACP Ethical framework), where you can explore and resolve events that are causing distress in your life.
My therapy room is local to the SA4 area and off road parking is available. My therapy room is also on a bus route.
My training and preferred way of working
I am an integrative counsellor, trained to work within many theoretical models, including CBT and Person Centred therapy. I also have an interest in working with Attachment theory.
My preferred way of working is with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a 3rd wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It is a humanistic/ existential form of CBT that focuses on mindfulness and acceptance. ACT can be used both in long term and brief therapy. ACT places a major emphasis on values, forgiveness, acceptance, compassion, living in the present moment, and accessing a transcendent sense of self.
