About me and my therapy practice
Space for you. (Essex based counselling practice.)
I am a qualified, accredited and experienced integrative counselor.
I am also a qualified EMDR therapist, working towards EMDR accreditation.
EMDR is an acronym for ‘Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing’. EMDR is a powerful psychological treatment method that was developed by an American clinical psychologist, Dr Francine Shapiro, in the 1980s.
EMDR is a complex and powerful therapy. Therapists always have a background in mental health before undertaking training in EMDR.
I offer counselling, both short and longer term, to individuals for a variety of problems. Sometimes people have specific issues they wish to explore, with someone who has the ability to listen in a confidential and non-judgemental way, independent from friends and family. At other times people may be worrying excessively, feeling confused, overwhelmed or low in spirit. I have many years experience working in the NHS, with clients who have chronic illness, Chronic Fatigue and Multiple Sclerosis. And also in the Bereavement and Alcohol Agencies.
I am accredited with BACP and work within their professional and ethical frameworks.
I would welcome an opportunity to work with you and in the therapeutic relationship we create, gain awareness together of the possibilities to make meaningful changes to your life and together examine the choices available to you.
