About me and my therapy practice
You may feel uncertain about coming to Counselling or it may not be your first experience of Counselling. Whatever your path I am here to support you through the experience. It is important for me that we focus on what you would like to work on and explore the different ways we can do this together. I can offer a range of ways to work including visual aids, psycho education or simply talking therapy. This may sound overwhelming but I am here to walk with you through this stage of your journey and we can get to know what works best for you as we go.
I believe we all have the power to change and bring the most painful parts of our lives into acceptance and reduce the stress and emotional pain they may cause. My focus is on providing a safe and comfortable environment for you to grow.
I am an experienced integrated counsellor who specialises in working with relationship issues, anxiety, loss and low self esteem. I work in a client centred approach drawing on a range of models including Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Theory to deepen the exploration of self. I offer flexible times and frequency for our sessions. I believe that you are the expert and have the power to change and bring into acceptance the most challenging and emotionally painful parts of your life.
My first session
I offer a free initial 15 phone call to talk about what you are looking for from Counselling and to establish if you feel I can meet your needs. If you feel comfortable and would like to book an appointment we will agree a date and time. I offer session online using zoom or in person at my Therapy room in Aylesbury. Before you arrive at our session I will send you a contact details form to complete and a copy of my working agreement to read through.
During the first session we will review the working agreement and explore if there is anything else you need to feel safe and secure. There will be a few questions in this session from me to help me establish information to be able to understand how I can support you best. I will be able to answer any further questions you may have. The first session is very much about getting to know each other and what you would like to focus our time together around. We can explore what you are hoping for as an outcome and how we will work towards that and review our progress. At the end of each session we will talk about when you would like to have your next appointment and you will have the opportunity to reflect on how you are finding the sessions so we can make adjustments if needed.
