About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling 'stuck' in an area of your life or experiencing feelings which you struggle to understand? The reasons bringing you to therapy could be long-term issues, or you may be finding it difficult to cope with a sudden change, such as a bereavement or the loss of a relationship. Equally, you may just feel that you are searching to reach your potential in life and would like to explore this, in a confidential and non-judgemental space.
As a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist, I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches to adapt to how a person relates to themselves and to the world around them, reflecting the diversity of our experiences. At the core of this work, I will treat you with compassion, with the focus on understanding where you are now and where you would like to be. For example, we can explore how you may have developed debilitating self-beliefs, how these affect your relationships with yourself and others, and actions you can take to change these.
Alongside private practice, I have worked for an NHS counselling service and as a Psychotherapist with young adult care leavers. With a background of working in rehabilitation services, I have 15 years' experience of helping people with recovery from addictions, trauma and chronic low self-esteem. I have worked extensively with people who have experienced domestic- and/or sexual abuse.

My first session
Choosing to enter counselling can seem a daunting prospect and I understand the importance of feeling comfortable in the relationship with your counsellor.
Whether or not you have tried counselling before, your first session is primarily a chance to see if you feel comfortable with me as a counsellor and if you wish to continue with regular sessions. We will spend time discussing your background, what you are looking for from counselling and the ways in which counselling could help.
