About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative, Transpersonal psychotherapist and counsellor. I have been working in private practice and in the voluntary sector since 2003. I am a registered member of BACP and UKCP and adhere to their code of ethics and safe practice.
Under the transpersonal/integrative orientation, I use a broad range of therapeutic models and techniques, which means that to the best of my ability, I seek to develop a way of working with you which is most appropriate to your individual needs. The approaches I draw from, I draw especially from Jungian, and Transpersonal approaches, dreams, myths, fairy tales, creative mediums and imagination to address deep-rooted emotional concerns, to widen perspective, to increase self-awareness, to foster long-lasting emotional well-being, and to open doors to new life possibilities.
I practice a method of therapy based on the relational model of depth psychotherapy which enables me to foster and maintain deep and sustained emotional contact, and a supportive relationship that empowers and embraces difference and diversity.
Depth psychotherapy uses a wide range of approaches that facilitate the exploration of the underlying, repressed, and unconscious motives and patterns that may have been directing your life, and influencing your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships beneath your conscious awareness. Uncovering these hidden motives can be healing and life-affirming, and can result in developing emotional resilience.
Practice description
I offer a warm and empathic space with an approach that cares for the soul. I believe strongly that it is the relationship that has healing potential. We will work together to build trust, and as the alliance between us strengthens, the therapeutic relationship creates a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, seen, and understood. This can be a relief and sometimes a revelation.
The First Step
Coming to therapy for the first time as a client can sometimes feel like a leap into the unknown. Working together, we can explore your life situation and gain deeper insights into the challenges you may be facing in a safe and containing way. I invite you to come with all your struggles and vulnerabilities without the fear of being judged.
Since 2003, I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression and loss of meaning, bereavement and loss, abuse, trauma, dissociation, chronic shame, relationship difficulties, isolation and withdrawal, difficulties involving difference, discrimination and marginalisation, life transitions and creative self-discovery.
I have experience of working therapeutically with more complex issues, such as PTSD, Borderline Personality and Dissociative Identity Adaptations, Physical, Emotional, Sexual, Institutional Abuse, with neuro-diverse clients, counselling trainees and artists.
My first session
Counselling sessions for individuals are 50 minutes long. I also have a limited number of concessions for those on low-income and for students (Online and telephone sessions only); please contact me to enquire about availability.
I offer a free 15-minute telephone appointment. Feel free to arrange an introductory telephone session if you have any questions about how counselling works.
Please contact me by email or by telephone if you would like to arrange an initial assessment session, during which time, we can explore the challenges you are struggling with, your reasons for coming to therapy, your hopes and fears, as well as exploring how we can best work together. This enables you to see whether therapy can be beneficial, or if I am the right therapist for you.
I work from private offices located in KT2. In addition to providing face-to-face therapy, I also offer telephone counselling and online sessions. Please email me if you would like to know more about how online therapy works.
I work with clients from Kingston upon Thames, and the surrounding Surbiton, Norbiton, Richmond, Sheen, Twickenham and Putney areas.
