About me and my therapy practice
I am a humanistic-existential therapist working remotely to anyone over 18 in the UK who's struggling with their life circumstances. This type of therapy is part of the school of person-centred therapy. I offer phone and Zoom sessions with flexible scheduling at accessible prices.
As a queer person, I know how difficult it can be to experience and express yourself authentically, and how persistent feelings of being misunderstood can impact your life. Humanistic-existential therapists seek to understand the way you exist and experience your world, and to offer you empathy, compassion and courage as you navigate your life. There is no judgement, no shame, and no blueprint for living a good life: your circumstances and experiences are unique.
As a therapist, I'm not here to advise you or tell you how to live your life. By working together, you'll have the space and safety to explore every aspect of your world and to decide for yourself what meaningful change would look and feel like - and I'm here to support you in making and sustaining those changes.
My work is trauma-informed and research-based. I work with people over 18 who live in the UK. Sessions are usually 60 minutes and can be arranged weekly, fortnightly, or monthly depending on your needs.
Practice description
I currently work remotely, which allows me to offer financially accessible counselling at a wider range of times and to a broader range of clients. I offer sessions at a flat rate of £30 per hour. I have some early morning availability (6am and 7.30am) as well as daytime (9.30am-5.30pm), with evenings and weekends by special arrangement.
I will send you the Zoom links by email on the morning of your session day, or the evening before if your session is before 9am. All you need is a quiet, confidential space to speak, and a device capable of joining Zoom meetings (you don't have to have your camera on to attend therapy).
If you'd rather work on the phone, I'll call you at the agreed time from a private number.
Sessions can be arranged via email at simultascounselling@gmail.com , or at the end of the previous session.
Sessions cancelled with less than 24hrs notice will be charged at the regular session rate.
My first session
I offer a short 30 minute phone or Zoom call prior to beginning counselling: we'll discuss what you want from counselling, whether I'm the right therapist for you, and whether the therapy I offer is right for you.
There is no charge and no obligation for this initial contact.
