About me and my therapy practice

My belief is that communication is power, being our authentic selves, and being comfortable with that process, to do this we must first be clear in ourselves, able to come from clarity of mind without judgment and have the tools to find and connect with that authentic self.

I come from a school of Person Centered Therapy, this counselling approach allows the client to take an active role in the process as the therapist works in a non directive and supportive way.

For many years I worked in a Problem gambling program in Perth Western Australia, I found working in a Psycho-educational/Solution Focused way was very progressive and I had good results by adding therapies such as Mindfulness and Narrative therapy which can help to separate people from their problems, seeing them as, functioning individuals who at times in their lives can engage in behavior and thought patterns that can be self-damaging or damaging to others.

This work spreads into any addictions and impulsive behavior clients and due to my training which was a three year Bachelor of Counselling; an integrated and organized program which focused on the development of the human person through the lifespan, with a weaving of developmental, psycho social, personal and spiritual aspect, I have had good results to break out of cycles and move into permanent change.

I am just finishing studying Energy Psychotherapy, so work with tapping on meridian points and other forms of integrating mind and body, which I think is very important in these times of such turmoil.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP registered therapist based in Sutton (London) but work with clients all over the UK and overseas. Working with me could help you move toward healing and a more in-depth sense of self through reflection and the therapeutic process. It is a case of having to trust the process as we build the therapeutic relationship together and work towards a more free and open sense of self.

After my work in the non-profit sector I moved back to London to be close to family and have been working for myself, with clients through my private practice. I continue to study and have recently qualified with a Diploma in Energy Psychotherapy, and completed Professional Skills Level 1 in Emotional Freedom Technique - also known as Tapping - which is becoming an increasingly popular tool, to manage anxiety in particular. I have been someone who practices meditation and mindfulness for many years and am happy to bring these tools into a session if and when a client feels this could benefit them.

Practice description

Having worked as a counsellor for a number of years now I am experienced in working with people of all ages on a one-on-one basis, with couples and also with families.

I have worked with clients on all different issues such as grief and loss, abuse, addictions, impulse behaviours such as hoarding, anxiety and depression, stress, relationship difficulties, self-harm, disordered eating, burnout and just general life struggles.

About me and my therapy practice

I am currently studying Therapeutic Supervision with  Robin and  Joan Shohet through CSTD (Centre for Supervision and Team Development) in London, which draws on;  psychology, psychotherapy, group dynamics, inter-subjectivity, appreciative inquiry and systems thinking. I will be half way through the learning by the 10th of February, 6 hrs of study and will have on- going  extra Group  supervision practice on my part, self and peer assessment enquiry and tutorials.  All being  complete by mid to end of this year. I am looking for supervisee's  at a low cost of £45 until I have completed this study process.

I began university in my 30’s which meant I came to it with a bit more life experience and also as a mother. I originally studied Gender and Cultural Studies  and Sociology, which was fascinating, however, I transferred to a BA in Counselling because I realised that was really what I was passionate about. I completed a 4 year degree at Notre Dame University in Fremantle which was very intensive and included placements, much like a teaching programme in the UK does. Before my degree finished I was offered a job at one of these placements, a non-profit counselling agency in Perth, Western Australia.

At this agency I continued to study, courses such as training in gambling help, Mental Health First Aid, mindfulness and many others.  I specialised in working with people and their family’s struggling particularly with gambling addictions.  I provided educational support, facilitated groups and provided one-to-one general counselling. I also worked with a number of clients in prison to help them deal with their addictions.

I moved back to London in 2013 where I began my private practice. I qualified with a Diploma in Energy Psychotherapy, and completed Professional Skills Level 1 in EFT -  known as Tapping - increasingly popular tool for anxiety in 2021. Including the supervision i'm currently doing, I did a 1 day course in Constellation Work in Supervision also at CSTD.

Practice description

I am known as a process worker often and so the CSTD Supervision course suited me very well as this is all about process. With neurodivergent features, I have a good understanding of the hardships that comes with learning but at the same time the love of learning is there, even though it is a challenge, processing has always been an important part of how I can learn and listen, probably also bringing empathy  and good listening skills.

I like to say  my superpower that came from the struggles!

I offer my expertise as a therapist with a good deal of experience but also as a practicing supervisor.

To work  together to process and work with  interest and  to be inquisitive.

I am aware one can advertise and work as a supervisor  with counselling experience but I felt I wanted specific learning so I could be my best self in the process as a supervisor.

My first session

This would be an assessment and also building a contract together.

Cognitive, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred
