About me and my therapy practice

As a registered, accredited and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist,  working as a Gestalt therapist I aim to enhance your awareness of how you think, feel and make contact with others in your world.  The word Gestalt means the 'whole' so my intention as a counsellor or psychotherapist is to help facilitate your self understanding and therefore enable you to integrate parts that have become less 'integrated and whole'.  We can use creative medium in the room but this is not always necessary - I started out as a person centred counsellor in 1999 and then went on to retrain as a Gestalt therapist in 2004 and so understand the value of offering a safe environment for the work to take place.  I have worked with adults and young people since qualifying and work differently with every client - understanding that we are all unique and one sort of counselling does not fit everyone.  I have started up walk and talk therapy sessions which are proving very popular - this is where we find a place that feels safe enough to explore personal issues without the sometimes intimidating experience of sitting opposite a counsellor and talking.   I am also an experienced supervisor working with students and qualified therapists since 2001 and work from my purpose built converted garage in Romsey.   I am available at different times during daytime throughout the week - I have a website:    I can also be available for zoom sessions for counselling or supervision but would like to meet up with you first.  If I feel that I cannot help you personally I can certainly point you in the direction of someone who can.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Practice description

Due to the Covid 19 virus I am doing online zoom/skype sessions as an assessment session and (weather permitting) then our sessions will be outside in a place where we both feel safe and the environment is conducive to the work.  We will meet at an arranged time and then walk and talk for fifty minutes - by which time we will be back to the start of the journey.  We will also stay at a distance from each other - 6ft at the moment - in order to comply with the government's recommendations of social distancing during the covid crisis.

My first session

Our first initial session will be done on zoom or skype at the moment and I will send you a link to zoom through your email address 5 minutes before the session begins.  If you press on the link it should automatically connect you through to zoom and you will be placed in a 'waiting' position where you will stay until our allocated time for therapy.  The sessions last 50 minutes and we will then decide whether zoom is the best way to have sessions or if you would prefer a one to one session.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified and experienced supervisor, having worked for the last 18 years consistently with supervisees who are either trained or currently in training to become counsellors.  I have also worked within the local college as a supervisor of the students who are working towards the Counselling Diploma.  I work from home in Romsey in a room separate from my house which is specifically designed for counselling and supervision.

Practice description

I supervise collaboratively and offer 20 years of experience of looking at counselling difficulties between clients and counsellors - my work is essentially looking at how to build and maintain this important relationship.

My first session

At the moment I am only zooming to ensure safe distancing due to the corona virus.  This will be adjusted when the government say we are allowed to resume working again.
