About me and my therapy practice
Are you having a difficult time at home or at work? Has a family member or friend died and you're finding it difficult to accept what has happened? Have you retired and finding it hard to adjust? Are you struggling with some issues from the past and feel that now is the right time to find a way forward?
People come to counselling for many different reasons and at different times in their lives. I have worked as a counsellor in a NHS Primary Care setting for 18 years, as well as having an independent practice. Over this time I have gained experience of working with a wide range of difficulties and concerns, and offer both short and longer term counselling to individuals.
Our first meeting would be an opportunity for us to get to know each other and decide if I am the right counsellor for you. At this meeting you would have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have about how I work as a counsellor. If you decide to continue we would then agree for how long and how often we would meet.
The counselling approach I use is Person Centred. This means that I see you as the person who knows best about your experience and needs, and see the relationship between us as central to the counselling. My further training and experience of working in other ways enables me to tailor the counselling work to meet the needs of each individual I see.
