About me and my therapy practice

I have been a Psychotherapist for 21 years. I am also a fully qualified EMDR Practitioner and have been using this therapy since 2015. I am trained in LMV (Life Minus Violence) which is a cognitive behavioural therapeutic package designed to reduce risk of aggression amongst forensic populations.

My approach to our therapy sessions, will be based on reason for referral. Every client is individual and sessions are tailor made with this in mind.

Practice description

I offer face to face appointments aswell as online. Appointments are approximately 1 hour.

Confidentiality is a fundamental part of our therapeutic relationship and my approach is non-judgemental and client-focussed.

I have 21 years experience of offering one to one support to very young children, young people, adults, couples and families.

I also work within school and clinical settings and take referrals from social care and adoption support.

Until recently, I was employed by a local company called CCATS and within my role there I worked with HSB clients and children with acute behavioural needs.  I have experience of court work and producing reports; designing and delivering emotional regulation courses for  EDB schools and I co-delivered parenting classes earlier in my career.  I worked for CCATS for 16 years.

I am qualified to degree level, have indemnity insurance, regular supervision, an up to date DBS certificate and most importantly, a kind heart.

My first session

The purpose of the initial appointment is to talk about reason for referral in some detail and to take some background history.  We will talk about what your expectations of therapy are and what you would want to achieve from the sessions.  We will then discuss the different ways of working to best meet expectation or need.  There is no pressure to make a follow up - or ongoing - appointment.  There is no charge for this initial appointment.
