About me and my therapy practice
“When you can’t look at the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark” Lewis Carroll.
Counselling can help you to understand your current circumstances and make changes for a more fulfilling life. During this time of the coronavirus pandemic we are enduring a heightened level of anxiety given the uncertainty that surrounds us. We may need to give ourselves extra support in order to manage.
My approach is person-centred underpinned by existential psychotherapeutic principles. This means that I believe struggles in life are inevitable and that we have the innate capacity to heal. I offer a safe, respectful, confidential space that welcomes all that you bring to each session. My aim is to support you to develop an understanding of what makes you the person you are, how you respond to life, relationships and yourself, in order to encourage a gentle reconnection to your inner wisdom and freedom. My hope is to help you build your inner world so that you can choose how to respond to the challenges that you encounter.
Practice description
Specialisms
I am a registered BACP psychotherapeutic counsellor in private practice. I have extensive experience as a bereavement counsellor having trained and worked with Cruse, the bereavement charity. I have also worked for Age UK, counselling adults over 50 years. The middle years are a time of great change, presenting with the challenges of loss – the empty nest, relationships, ageing, death of parents and the profound knowledge of nearing our own death. It can be invaluable to explore this period to process our losses and build a satisfying future. I have also worked with young adults and adolescents for YMCA- Dialogue in Brighton and Hove. This too can be a challenging period of transition from childhood to adulthood which can induce great anxiety.
As my work has evolved over the years I have become particularly interested in how loss, bereavement, early life experiences and trauma are experienced and manifest in ways of being. I have worked with many issues including depression, life changes, anxiety and stress, self-esteem, grief, loss, identity, relationship issues, life meaning, sexual issues and fulfilling one’s potential.
In private practice I offer therapy to individuals over the age of 18.
I am currently working online only and my fee reflects this.
Daytime sessions are £55 and evening sessions are £65 (5pm onwards)
