About me and my therapy practice
Are you worried about your child’s wellbeing?
Or looking to make changes in your own life and not sure where to start.
Perhaps the opportunity to talk to someone in a safe and non-judgemental way may help.
My name is Rachel and I am a BACP accredited, registered and qualified therapist with over 14 years of counselling experience with adults, children and young people. I also offer supervision to anyone working in therapeutic or care services.
During my time working in education I found my studies in counselling allowed me to offer a higher level of emotional support to the young people and families I was working with. I continue to use my counselling work in schools and specialise in creative work and therapeutic play for children aged 9 and above.
I am a person centered counsellor and I use a range of therapeutic techniques that will be suited to your needs. Together we can help you to have better relationships, greater peace of mind, more confidence and enjoyment in your life choices.
Anything that is worrying you is worth talking about and you don't have to be in crisis before you reach out. I know that making that first step can feel like the hardest so I offer a free, no obligation 20 minute consultation to see how counselling may help you.
Face to face work takes place at The Body Mind Clinic, Newport Rd, Cardiff. This lovely building is close to Cardiff Centre and has onsite parking for visitors. Alternatively, we can meet online from the comfort of your own home.

My first session
What happens at our initial consultation and first appointment?
Every first session is different, but here are some ideas of what to expect when we first meet.
Initial consultation: will be a 20 minute telephone call
• We're likely to discuss what you hope to get from counselling.
• I will say a bit about how I work and answer questions you may have.
• As part of my commitment to practising ethically I will need to assess our suitability to work together. You will not have to decide whether you want to go ahead with counselling right away. I will ask you to get in touch with me once you have had time to reflect on whether counselling with me feels right for you.
First session: 50 minutes face to face, online or telephone
• My priority at the first session is to welcome you and invite you to talk a bit about what is going on in your life and what brings you to counselling.
• We will discuss the counselling contract. This will have been sent to you beforehand.
• We can look at ways in which you would like us to work together.
