About me and my therapy practice

Does life sometimes feel like a jigsaw puzzle with pieces not slotting together? I am a great believer that we need to invest in ourselves. When life becomes difficult and those pieces are just not fitting, counselling gives you the opportunity to focus on yourself, make you the priority in an otherwise busy life. I have been through such times and it encouraged me to train as a counsellor to help clients with general mental health issues and other life difficulties, such as grief, addiction, sexuality, domestic abuse and anger issues.

As well as private practice and voluntary work, I have worked as a Probation Officer for 18 years. These experiences have given me the ability to sit with the uncomfortable, and create a therapeutic relationship which is non-judgemental and warm. The client's needs are at the centre of that working relationship be it short or long term therapy.

I am aware coming to therapy is not easy. However, my aim is for us to work together to get a better understanding of why those pieces of the jigsaw are not fitting together. I do this through working creatively using various techniques.
