About me and my therapy practice

I adapt the way I work to best-suit each person; I work with adults and with young people either face-to-face, via telephone, or using video-call. Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor in several GP surgeries working with people with a wide range of presentations. If you are looking for a counsellor because you have an Eating Disorder (diagnosed or not), please contact me so that I can tell you more about the ways in which we may work together.

In coming for counselling, you can be sure that I will accept and support you for who you are; there will be no expectations or judgements. I will try my best to see your life through your eyes; this helps me to appreciate the situation that you are in, enabling me to truly empathise with you. I will respect your opinions, even if they are different to mine; I will be an empathic listening ear as I support you to explore whatever you bring with you. If you would like me to help you to challenge your thoughts, then that's what I'll do. Conversely, if you want me to sit alongside you and listen, really listen, then that is what I will do instead. Often, great insights come from saying our inner-most thoughts out loud. If talking really isn't your thing, and for lots of people it's not, then I will offer you various creative ways of working. I’ve worked with many people who prefer this style and it can be very effective. At the forefront of my mind, always, is what is best for you.

Ultimately, the counselling session is a time and a space for you to develop a relationship like you’ve probably not had before. Counselling provides a very unique environment in which your voice will be heard; it is somewhere that you really do matter. Please do get in touch. I offer an initial, no obligation, free, 20 minute meeting. This is a valuable opportunity that enables you to get a gut feeling for whether I am the person who you feel comfortable in sharing your vulnerabilities with.

Practice description

Whilst social distancing is in place, due to COVID-19, in place of face-to-face counselling, I am offering sessions via telephone or video-call. I can talk you through how to set up the video-call platform that I use and so, if this seems scary, as using new technology sometimes does, please let me know and I will help to alleviate your fears as best I can.
