About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified Pluralistic Counsellor and have experience working with adults, children and young people.  Pluralism means that there is not one correct way of working with a client, therefore, I will be guided by your needs and preferences.  I believe that each person is the expert in their own life and I will work in a way which reflects this.

We all experience ups and downs in life but sometimes we can become stuck which can lead to feelings of hopelessness or unhelpful behaviour.  Counselling may help by allowing us to put into words how we feel, by gaining new understanding about ourselves and others, learning new coping skills or making sense of what we want out of our life.

I believe that the relationship is a key aspect of counselling, therefore I offer a free 30 minute initial appointment to establish the best path for you.

Practice description

Currently, I offer telephone and video call appointments.

I will ask you about your preferences and any past experiences of counselling to guide the work we do.

For example - having unstructured conversations and allowing topics to come up naturally, focusing on unhelpful or troubling thoughts and core beliefs and looking at ways to change them to improve mood and behaviour. It may be that you would prefer to focus on past experiences/childhood to make sense of them. Or perhaps you have come to counselling to gain practical coping skills.

These are just some examples of methods we may use in our work together.

My first session

Introductory session (30 minutes) - free of charge

After the introductory session, it is up to you to decide if you want to start counselling - you may wish to take a day or two to think it over.

If you decide to go ahead, our first session may be spent gathering some more information in the form of an assessment before we begin the counselling process.
