About me and my therapy practice

  1. My name is Kate Howell, I'm a qualified registered counsellor & psychotherapist based in the Swansea area. My experience includes working with clients aged from 14yrs-85yrs, in many different counselling agencies around the country including Worcester, Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea. Most recently, I have been working with the charity Mind in Swansea and I am also about to start as a Bereavement Counsellor with the NHS Bereavement Service in Carmarthenshire.
  2. My passions are for working with young people and young adults (11-25yrs), and also as a Christian Counsellor. I am trained in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, meaning I combine different modalities in a relational way that works best for clients and results in the best outcome for them. My preferred way of working involves the Person-Centred, Gestalt and Relational modalities, however I mould my approach to whatever your needs are.
  3. I have been trained most recently, by the University of South Wales on their BACP Accredited Post Graduate course in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy. It is where I learnt what I feel is most important about the counselling relationship and process, which is the client, their emotions and their needs. Being mutually honest with each other, respecting and accepting each other for who we are.
  4. From working in general counselling agencies, I have gained a broad experience in working with different issues. The most common issues I have worked with include, depression & anxiety, stress & work-related issues, relationships, abuse, confidence & self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, social anxiety, family issues, trauma, life events, loss and bereavement.
  5. If you have any questions about therapy, how I work or any other queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
