About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Casework Supervisor.
I am an accredited and registered practitioner with the BACP.
I have 20 years of experience in supporting people with mental health difficulties and emotional problems. I have delivered therapy and supported clients within the charitable and statutory (NHS) sectors and operate a private practice.
My goal is to offer you a safe, confidential, non- judgemental and empathic environment, based on trust and transparency in which you can explore your issues.
Working as a counsellor my approach is non-directive and I believe that you possess the answers to your own problems. My role is to help you explore and make sense of your issues and emotions in a way that can free you up to make positive changes and move forward in your life.
As a CBT therapist, my role is to help you explore the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, to identify your problems and goals for therapy and then construct a personalised treatment plan that will enable you to move in a positive direction. This is a proactive approach to therapy that has proven to be particularly effective when treating depression and the various anxiety disorders.
I can tailor these approaches to therapy to meet your needs.
The connection between a therapist and a client is key to the success of the therapy. Together with you my aim is to build a solid relationship that will underpin the work that we do and help you move towards a positive outcome.
I offer online therapy via Zoom and if required by telephone. This provides more flexibility and the sessions can be carried out at a time and on a day that is convenient for you.
I am a certified online and telephone therapist and work to protocols recognised by the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online.
My first session
During your first session we will undertake an assessment of your needs, discuss your presenting problems and your goals for therapy.
I will talk to you about how therapy can help you and what to expect. During this session you will get an opportunity to ask any questions and to establish if you feel comfortable working with me.
I will introduce you to a contract and boundaries for therapy, which will include confidentiality and GDPR.
